Rent A Laptop the Next Time You Are on the Road

Apple MacBook ProThe recent advances in the technology of laptops has made them jump from a high-end commodity to a device accessible and affordable to nearly anybody in the world. However, there are times when a laptop purchase is either not affordable or not necessary. That is where a laptop rental comes in handy.

Many of you may not know that renting a laptop is, most of the time, a lot easier and a lot cheaper than buying one and can really give you a leg up in certain situations. Let’s say you are headed to a conference for your trade but you do not have a laptop. Well, you will most likely need to check emails, make updates online or might even purchase something while at the conference, but you can not do anything like that if you do not have the technology to do so.

So what do you do? Are you going to buy a $900 laptop that you will most likely only use three or four times a year at most? Of course not. This is where a high class laptop rental comes in handy. But where do you get one? Well, that part is even easier, Rentacomputer.com. Rentacomputer.com has been in the computer rental business for over 20 years and they specialize in renting laptops and technologies for traveling businessmen.

Rentacomputer.com has a wide range of laptops from a variety of different companies including Dell, HP, Sony, Toshiba, IMB/Lenovo and Apple. Some of Rentacomputer.com’s most popular laptop rentals are Apple laptops. Rentacomputer.com offers a full range of Apple laptops including the Apple MacBook Pro and the Apple MacBook Air. Rentacomputer.com also has Apple iPad rentals as well if you prefer that over a laptop.

You can completely customize your rental with Rentacomputer.com as well. If you want it, you can get it with the simple click of a button. Want a 17-inch screen instead of a 15-inch? Then go for it, Rentacomputer.com can make that happen.

So the next time you find yourself on the road and in need of some powerful, portable technology, then consider renting a laptop from Rentacomputer.com, you won’t regret it.

New Custom Built VAIO S Laptops

Sony VAIO S SignatureOk so the Sony VAIO S laptop is not new, we know that. But what is new is the announcement of a custom built option which is definitely a welcome development. The Sony VAIO S launched in the Spring of 2010 as a lightweight option for somebody who is always on the road or is a frequent traveler in the business world. There are a few things that come on every VAIO S, pre-built or custom, like a 13.3-inch display. The device itself is 1-inch thick and weighs over 4 pounds so it is still pretty light.

When it comes to customization, you can get up to a Ci5-580M processor, up to 256GB SSD and up to 8GB of RAM. A popular feature on the customization list is a backlit keyboard which is available on the VAIO S. You can also opt for a Blu-ray disc writable drive , Windows 7 Professional and an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card with 512MB of VRAM.

If you decide to go with an Intel graphics option then your VAIO S will be compatible with WiDi. This just means you will have the ability to stream content from your laptop to your HDTV wirelessly. The VAIO S comes in a magnesium casing and G-Sensor Shock Protection technology. This is to help protect your computer from the everyday bumps you put it through, especially if you carry it around in a messenger bag like I do.

As an added bonus, the Sony Style Team is offering a free upgrade to a Ci5 processor with any custom built models that add Windows Professional 7. But if custom just isn’t your thing then you will be pleased to know that all pre-built versions of the VAIO S purchased at SonyStyle.com come with an extended battery.

You can get this device in either black or silver though Sony Style just added the VAIO S to its Signature line. Signature models can be acquired in the two limited edition colors of wavy white and wavy black. Signature models also come with 512MB dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 310 graphics. Custom models have a base starting price of $874.99.

Competition for the iPad to Launch at Taipei 2011 Computer Trade Show*

2011 Computex TaipeiApple’s iPad has long since reigned supreme in the tablet pc market. There have been a lot of other companies that have put out some truly remarkable products but none have quite caught the attention away from the iPad. Well naturally these competitors are tired of being second best and are planning on showing off a bunch of new tablet products to rival the iPad at the upcoming 2011 Computex Taipei.

At the 2011 event, more exhibitors will be displaying at far more booths at the second largest computer trade show in the world. Expect to see a slew of increasingly popular devices including the latest in tablet computers and e-readers according to event organizers.

The 2011 Computex Taipei event will host more than 1,800 companies, both foreign and local, which have signed up to meet in Taiwan from May 31 to June 4, 2011. These companies will take over more than 5,000 booths at the event which is an increase over the 4,861 booths used by the 1,715 exhibitors at the 2010 event.

The Computex Taipei event, now celebrating its 31st birthday, is often used as a platform for companies, both local and foreign, to showcase their new products which will be comprised of a lot of tablet computers this year in response to the iPad’s overwhelming success.

Tablet releases by some of the big names in the industry, including Acer, Austek, Samsung, ViewSonic, Dell and HP, will coincide at the event. All of these companies will include tablet computers next year, according to sources at the event.

There are expected to be more Chinese buyers at the 2011 event due to Taiwan and China signing a landmark liberalized trade pact earlier this year, according to Brian Lee, executive director of  the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

According to Lee, “The average number of foreign visitors to the show is about 36,000 every year, but there will probably be 40,000 next year.” Lee also predicts that after the event concludes, the value of transactions promoted by the show will total more than $23 billion in the following 12 months.

Apple may be the reigning champ in the tablet pc market but seems to be facing some stiff competition at the 2011 Computex Taipei. If Apple wishes to remain on top, then they had better be aware of their competition and start working on some great new innovations for the iPad.

4 Rules to Remember When Flying with Your Laptop

Carrying a laptop through an airport should never have to be a hassle. But sadly, for most people it is. With the increase in TSA secuirty measures, taking your expensive laptop through the airport could be downright horrible. However, if you follow some very easy and simple rules, you should have no trouble at all getting your laptop onto the plane and not have to worry about it being lost, confiscated or damaged.

Rule #1: Make Sure You Have the Proper Security Measures in Place
An airport is one of the most popular locations for laptop thieves. No matter how well you guard your laptop, there is always a chance that it will get stolen. So, the best course of action to take here is to have a solid plan if this unfortunate event happens. Make sure to back up all of your files and have some security measures in place on your laptop to ensure that thieves cannot access your personal files. When backing up your files, it is recommended that you use an external hard drive. External hard drives are quick, easy and only run you around $100.

Rule #2: Don’t Argue with Security About Your Laptop
Airport security is allowed to confiscate your laptop at any time, no questions asked. If they ask you for your laptop, then all you can do is politely hand it over to them with no arguments. If you put a up a fight, you could lose more than your laptop, specifically your seat on your flight. In most countries there is no need to worry about airport security taking your laptop. Unless there is a valid reason you should have no problem with security and your laptop.

Rule #3: Going Through Security Checkpoints
Whenever you go through a security checkpoint in an airport, be sure to remove your laptop from its case and put it in a bin by itself. Some laptop bags are now being allowed at airports. If you are using a checkpoint-friendly laptop bag, then you may not be asked to remove your laptop from its case. However, if you are asked by security to remove your laptop then revert back to Rule #2 and don’t argue! After this, the next thing you need to do is remember to pick up your laptop. Surprisingly enough, forgetting to retrieve your laptop is a very common occurrence at airports. The best way to make sure it doesn’t happen is to attach a label to your laptop with your name and phone number on it.

Rule #4: Take Your Laptop onto the Plane
You may be tempted to check your laptop in with the rest of your luggage, but this is a big no no because chances are you will never see it again. If you are going to check it in with the rest of your luggage, then be sure to at least put it into another bag. You shouldn’t check it in with your luggage in its own bag because people will be highly tempted to steal it. Your best option is to personally carry it on board with you. Nearly every airline will allow you to carry your laptop on with you. You will be told to keep it turned off until takeoff, but after that you are free to do whatever you want. A new option that some airlines now offer is the availability of WiFi. This will usually incur a fee of around $10. But if you don’t want to take your laptop on board with you, then at least put it in a regular luggage bag, hidden from prying eyes.

Follow these four simple rules and you should have no problem taking your laptop on any flight you take.

Advantages to Renting Computers for Small Businesses

Computer RentalsAnybody who has tried to run a small business or even a startup business knows that there are many obstacles in your way when it comes to getting and holding on to the latest technology out there. The amount of money it can take to acquire new computer equipment and peripherals can quickly drain your bank account. This, obviously, is a huge problem for small businesses and startups that may not have deep financial pockets.

The good news is that there are a ton of alternative options to buying new computer equipment, the most popular being a computer rental. Renting a computer instead of buying one can have many financial benefits. You can look forward to reduced upfront costs, possible tax benefits, precision budgeting with monthly payments and getting a computer rental is much easier than getting a loan from a bank to purchase everything you need.

There are also a few other advantages to renting a computer as opposed to buying one. After your rental has expired, you are then free to rent all new equipment based on what you need. Another feature is that it is more economically friendly. You don’t have to throw away your computer rental when you are done with it or when it has no more use like you do with a purchased computer. You can simply return it to whoever you rented it from.

There is also a big variety in computer rentals. You can get anything you could possibly need like a desktop rental or laptop rental. With Rentacomputer.com you can also rent a plethora of other devices like projectors, iPads, plasma screens, printers or even copiers. And acquiring one is simple. Just visit Rentacomputer.com online to get a fast and easy computer rental quote or call 877-422-1907 to speak with a Rentacomputer.com Customer Service Representative.

The Importance of Business Meetings

face to face business meetingsEverybody knows that a face to face discussion with somebody is far better than any conference call or email exchange. Some of the very best ideas in the business world have come to fruition due to a face to face meeting between two or more people. The environment is a lot different when business professionals from similar industries gather together to brainstorm ideas than it is with something like email or newsgroup. In a lot of cases, some ideas are created that would never had been possible without a face to face discussion.

Now, there is no hiding the value of personal meetings, but there are also certain costs that affect different business professionals in different ways. Sure a small gas or lunch fee won’t set your average businessman back too much, but some travelers are forced to pay for things like airfare, hotel and travel expenses. Add to it that some major conferences and conventions have high ticket prices and your total spendings could easily rack up.

In tough economic times, these added costs could seem like easy excuses to drop a convention or conference. However, you must remember that a well planned and well executed business meeting could reap huge benefits for your company. There are a ton of benefits to having a business meeting some of which include: the development of engaged employees, improved company culture, more satisfied employees or even increased employee retention. Meetings are a great way to further not only yourself but also your company.

There is already a ton of stress in going to a convention or conference and one thing you do not need to be worrying about at the last minute is the reliability of your laptop. A laptop rental from Rentacomputer.com is a fantastic way to decrease the stress and hassle of a busy convention or meeting.
