You aren’t too late to purchase tickets to this year’s Tech Awards Gala, which will take place on the evening of November 12 at San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Seating is limited to 1,300 guests and formal attire of all cultures is welcome, so plan accordingly.

The Tech Awards were created by The Tech Museum of Innovation in order to award those who have created technology that improves or benefits the human condition. Since 2001, The Tech Museum has granted awards yearly to multiple recipients in numerous categories. Two laureates in each of five categories of environment, economic development, young innovator, education, and health will be granted cash awards of $50,000 from various award sponsors.

Completed applications are submitted to a panel of judges who will make selections based on numerous criteria:

  • The use of technology to substantially improve the human condition.
  • Evidence that the use of this technology addresses a serious problem that surpasses previous solutions.
  • The potential for this use of technology to serve as an inspiration or model for others.
  • The technology has been applied in the field and shown measurable benefit (with the exception of the Young Innovators Award)

You won’t want to miss out on this years show where innovators from all over the globe are recognized for their technological contributions which have benefitted the greatest number of people. To quote San Jose Mercury News regarding last year’s awards: “Cannes has its film festival. Hollywoods got its Oscars. And Silicon Valley has its Tech Awards.”
