HP Breaks Into The Gaming Laptop World To Compete With Lenovo

HPThis year has been absolutely crazy for gaming laptops. There have been a lot of great ones to come out that are pushing more power than ever before. Lenovo, Asus, Razer, and Alienware have all come out with a ton of new products. Now, HP is looking to compete with all of them with the new Omen.

A lot of people don’t realize it, but HP used to put out a lot of gaming computers. They even own the Voodoo brand. Lately though, they haven’t really been in the gaming scene too much. The Omen is the first gaming computer they are putting out in quite some time, and they say it’s because they are trying to grow their company and appeal to more people and different markets.

The Omen has a 15.6 inch screen and is sporting an Intel Core i7 CPU. It also has Nvidia’s GeForce 869M graphics card, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD. It is obvious that this machine is competing with the Lenovo Y59 Touch, which has almost the exact same specs except that you can get a 4K display as an option.

LenovoThe body is a solid piece of aluminum, really simplistic and just black. It’s clear that it is all about the business and not about the gimmicks. All of the connections and ports are on the back because the edges are tapered on the side. This actually seems pretty cool to me. The keyboard is backlit with a red light, which makes it look even cooler. Let’s face it, you can never go wrong with black and red. The Lenovo Y50 even looks pretty similar with its red backlit keyboard, but the HP looks way better because it’s less boxy and just pulls off the look better.

You will be able to order the Omen from the Microsoft Store on November 4th. You will also be able to get it at BestBuy.com and a few other major online stores. The regular configuration of the computer will cost $1,499. There will be a few different upgrade options for you to pick from and they go all the way up to $1,699.

If you were looking into getting the Lenovo gaming laptop, you might want to reconsider. The Omen is basically the same thing except executed a little bit better. And it for sure looks better.
