The 2015 Fire Department Instructor’s Conference (FDIC) is only 17 days away with the annual convention headed to the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana from April 20-25. The event itself is an annual gathering that is focused on firefighter training, equipment, procedures, new implementations, etc… and is also a way for firefighting professionals to engage with one another, discuss different topics, network and make new friends.
This year’s event will have a tremendous amount of things for attendees to do. Hands-on training courses include things like Advanced Extrication (with real-world challenges), Structural Collapse Rescue and Rescue and Squad Company Operations on the Fireground. Classroom training sessions include things like Managing the Mayday for Chief Officers, IAFF/IAFC/ACE Peer Fitness Training and Rehabilitation Program and NFPA 1403: The Fire Instructor’s Risk Management Tool.
In addition to sessions and courses there are also Pre-Convention Workshops that allow you to prepare ahead of time for FDIC 2015. These workshops include Leadership in the Real World, Hazmat: Initial Approach and Actions, Strategic Decision Making at Commercial Building Fires and Think Like an Incident Commander.
Each year FDIC has a ton of special events that attendees can take part in. This year’s special events include the 8th Annual FDIC Courage and Valor Fun Run, the FDIC 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb, FCSN’s Comedy vs. Cancer, Firefighter Eagle Scout Meeting, ISFSI Membership Social and so much more!
If you are a firefighter then this is definitely the conference you want to be at. FDIC International 2015 is one of the premiere firefighter conventions in the world. This year’s event literally has something for everyone attending and looks to be bigger and better than last year. Registration is still open but hurry because there are only 17 more days until the convention kicks off! Visit the FDIC International website for more information on the event or to register.
